Merzouga & Erg Chebbi

The great dunes of the Moroccan Sahara: camel treks, nights in a desert camp, quad, buggy and sandboarding.

Merzouga

Welcome to our desert

Merzouga is a small village at the foot of Erg Chebbi, a sea of golden dunes in the south-east of Morocco, close to the Algerian border. Some dunes rise to around 150 metres, and they change colour all day long – orange at sunrise, gold at noon, red at sunset.

This is where we come from. Whether you arrive with one of our tours or with your own car, we take care of your camel trek, your night in the camp and your adventures in the dunes.

Questions

Good to know

How do I get to Merzouga?

With one of our private tours from Marrakech or Fes, or by car or bus. Merzouga is about 560 km from Marrakech and 470 km from Fes.

I have my own car – can I join the camel trek?

Yes. Meet us in Merzouga in the late afternoon; you can leave your car safely while you spend the night in the desert camp.

What is the desert camp like?

You sleep in Berber tents with a bed, blankets and private bathroom, right in the Erg Chebbi dunes. Dinner and breakfast are included.

Is there electricity and Wi-Fi at the camp?

The camp has electricity to charge phones and hot water in the bathrooms. Wi-Fi in the middle of the dunes is limited, which is part of the magic.

What should I pack for the desert?

Comfortable shoes, sunglasses, sun cream, a scarf for the sand and the wind, and a warm layer for the night, especially from November to March.
